NVA GA ASPIRE

Powered by RBFC

Northern Virginia Alliance (NVA) is proud to expand its player development platform through a new affiliation with Riverbend Fútbol Club (RBFC), establishing an NVA Girls Academy Aspire (GA Aspire) charter in Fairfax County. This affiliation strengthens NVA's position within the GA, while expanding the region's overall pathway and providing more structured development opportunities within the Girls Academy ecosystem.

For more information about the NVA/RBFC partnership, consult the Frequently Asked Questions below.

  • What is the Girls Academy Aspire (GA Aspire)?

GA Aspire is the second tier of competition within the Girls Academy platform, designed to increase pathways for player development and broaden access to national-level programming for players U13-U19.

  • Where does GA Aspire fit in the Girls Academy structure?

While both programs operate under the Girls Academy national organization, they represent successive competitive levels: GA is the top tier of competition, while GA Aspire is the second tier within the same league.

  • Will this arrangement affect current Girls Academy teams?

No. Current GA teams will continue competing in their respective divisions under Girls Academy governance. The GA Aspire addition expands the platform but does not change league placement of existing GA teams.

  • What does the new GA Aspire charter mean for NVA and its players?

The expansion demonstrates NVA’s commitment to responsible, collaborative growth by:

    • Increasing access to Girls Academy competition
    • Expanding roster opportunities across age groups
    • Creating additional entry points into the Girls Academy ecosystem
  • Why did NVA pursue a GA Aspire charter?

    The expansion enables NVA to:

    • Fulfill our obligation to the Girls Academy league by developing a pathway inclusive of GA Aspire
    • Increase roster capacity and flexibility within the NVA Girls Academy ecosystem
    • Expand geographic access across Northern Virginia
    • Strengthen regional collaboration.

This decision reflects NVA’s commitment to long-term strategic growth as we look to strengthen our player pool and expand our presence within the region.

  • Has NVA's status within the Girls Academy changed?

No. Northern Virginia Alliance (NVA) continues to compete in the top-tier Girls Academy divisions. While the addition of GA Aspire expands the NVA platform, the status, placement, and structure of existing GA teams remain the same.

  • Does one GA Aspire team rank above another?

No. Within GA Aspire, teams compete within the same league structure. The league does not designate one GA Aspire program as higher than another.

  • Who is Riverbend Futbol Club?

Founded to empower youth through soccer, Riverbend Fútbol Club (RBFC) fosters competitive excellence while upholding character and community. The club offers high-quality technical and developmental programs with a pathway from local competition to the national stage and beyond, cultivating top-caliber players to thrive in the game and become leaders in life. For more information, visit the RBFC website.

  • Why is NVA affiliating with RBFC?

    The move enables NVA to:

    • Serve more players at a high competitive level
    • Provide additional roster spots within the Girls Academy ecosystem
    • Expand regional access to national-level competition
  • How does the affiliation between NVA and RBFC work?

As an affiliate Club, Riverbend Fútbol Club will help administer and operate the GA Aspire program under the NVA charter, with technical oversight by NVA leadership. This collaboration allows for expanded player access, shared resources, and structured development within the NVA GA framework.

  • Where will NVA Aspire teams operate?

NVA will have technical oversight of the GA Aspire program operated by RBFC. NVA Aspire (RBFC) will operate in the Great Falls–Reston area. All training sessions and home matches will take place there, and player selection will focus on athletes from Great Falls–Reston and nearby communities.

  • Is the pathway still clear for players?

Yes. The NVA/RBFC affiliation provides a broader geographic reach for the Club. NVA players will continue to enjoy:

    • Access to the Girls Academy (top tier)
    • Access to GA Aspire (second tier)
    • Defined development opportunities within each level

Movement between teams will continue to follow performance standards, roster needs, and league guidelines.

  • Is the pathway still clear for Loudoun Soccer or NVA GA players?

Yes. The pathway remains structured and performance-based. Player movement will continue to be determined by:

    • Performance standards
    • Developmental progression
    • Roster needs
    • League guidelines

The addition of Aspire broadens access to the GA pathway while maintaining competitive integrity.

  • Will NVA players be able to move between NVA GA and NVA GA Aspire?

Yes. Player movement remains development-driven and aligned with league policies. Promotion or roster changes are based on performance, evaluation, and team needs. Per the Girls Academy Frameworks, once the season begins Loudoun Soccer Aspire and GA players are not permitted to move between Loudoun and NVA GA platforms.

  • What remains the same?

    • NVA remains a Girls Academy member club
    • GA teams continue in top-tier competition
    • Roster evaluation standards remain performance-based
    • League governance standards remain in place
    • NVA will continue to be a part of the Loudoun Soccer player pathway
